Excursions recommended for 2012 are:
Excursion: DEIA – THE PAINTERS’ ROUTE

Description: The route takes a path along various bays (Es Canyeret, Cala Deia) that are typical of the North coast of Majorca. The turquoise green of the sea and the grey tones of the rocks give a special ambiance to this area. The coast around Deia is traditionally a hideaway for personalities from the art world (writers, painters, sculptors, musicians etc.) looking for peace and inspiration. The light, the colours and the erratic shapes of the village of Deia, with the mountainous stretch of the Teix at its shoulders, hypnotise the walker as you explore the valley. The return journey takes us along part of the ‘castle’ path, the old trade route used to reach Sóller.
Itinerary: Hotel Es Molí (Deiá) – Camí des Ribassos – Cala Deiá – Camí des Pintors – Llucalcari – Camí des Castelló – Son Bujosa – Camí de SaVinya – Deiá – Hotel Es Molí (Deiá).
Duration: 4 hours
Distance: 8,8 km
Climb: 360 metres
Excursion: DEIÁ – TORRE DE SA PEDRISSA
Description: Sa Pedrissa, the old watchtower, was built to safeguard the inhabitants of Deia against invasion. This route takes two ancient paths that link Deia with the coast. We can enjoy the impressive panoramic views of the sea and then rest and have a swim at Cala Deia.
Itinerary: Hotel Es Molí – Deiá – Camí de Sa Vinya – Mirador de Son Bujosa – Cala Deiá – Torre de Sa Pedrissa – Camí des Ribassos – Hotel Es Molí.
Duration: 3,5 hours
Distance: 6,7 km
Climb: 243 metres
Excursion: CAMI DES CASTELLO (from Deia to the Port of Sóller)
Description: This is the old trade path linking the towns of Deia and Sóller, by which we pass through the old ‘alquerías’ (an Arabic name for farmsteads or hamlets) of Es Castelló. From the heights of Can Prohom we make a detour to Alconàsser and enter the finca of Muleta, through the old olive groves. We then reach Sa Possessió de Muleta, with its fascinating architectural features still intact despite the passage of time. From here, we follow the path Camí de Ferradura, and arrive at the refuge of Muleta, where we have lunch whilst enjoying the panoramic view of the Port of Sóller.

Return climb: 385 m
Excursion: DEIÁ – VALLDEMOSSA
Description: We start from Deia, travelling in a south westerly direction along the Teix, passing through a very varied landscape: on one side, the remains of traditional architecture (dry stone buildings, bread ovens etc.) betray the ancient uses of the oak woodlands; to the other side we are treated to views of one of the most picturesque parts of the north coast of the island of Majorca; it’s no wonder the Archduke Luis Salvador spoke so highly of the area, classifying it as one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Itinerary: Deiá – Cingles de Son Rul.lan – Coll de Son Gallard – Pla des Pouet – Valldemossa.
Duration: 4 hours
Distance: 10 km
Climb: 775 metres
